Frances Burger, who joined ASL Advisory in June 2019 as a Legal Consultant, was promoted to Associate in January 2021. She completed her master’s degree in Taxation through Stellenbosch University and was announced as the Tax Thesis Winner for a competition hosted by the South African Institute for Professional Accountants (SAIPA). In her role as Associate, she continues to head up legal consulting in ASL Advisory and will also, together with Jan Louis Koen, Tax Manager, further expand the professional service offering in terms of tax consulting at the ASL Group.

Ineke Siemens, who has been working for the ASL Group for the past five years, was promoted to the position of Division Manager in the Audit and Assurance division in January 2021. We look forward to the role she will continue to play at the firm in future.

Nadia Auret and Silja Kiessling, who completed their South African Institute for Chartered Accountants (SAICA) training contracts during 2020, continue their careers in the capacity of Assistant Managers in the Audit and Assurance division. We take pride in the development and training of all ASL staff members, enabling them to function in their respective capacities.

In addition to these developments, Ryan Slabbert also joined ASL in the capacity of Assistant Manager in the Audit and Assurance division in October 2020 and Carita Moolman joined the Tax Compliance department as Assistant Manager in March 2021.

We hereby wish to welcome 20 new Trainee Accountants who joined the ASL Group in the Auditing and Assurance, and Business Solutions divisions in January 2021.

Heide Nel, Marieke Diener, Ehren Jacobs, Anna-Mart Du Plessis, Elma Coetzee, Casper Gous and Franco Janson, who obtained their respective degrees at Stellenbosch University, will be completing their training contracts to register as Professional Accountants with the South African Institute for Professional Accountants (SAIPA) and as Management Accountants with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) over the next three years. Furthermore, René Rall and Bianca van Dyk, who studied at North West University, Potchefstroom campus, will be completing their SAIPA training contracts.

Candice Behrens and Esna de Kock, from Stellenbosch University, Ian Jacobs from the University of Pretoria, as well as Frans Kruger, Esrie Janse van Rensburg, Siané Willemse, Niel de Bruin, Dashane Conradie, Freddie Lubbe, Casper Fick and Joné Visser from North West University will be completing their training contracts for professional registration in the respective categories as Chartered Accountants (CA (SA)) or Associate General Accountants (AGA) at the South African Institute for Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
